AGILITY PROGRAM PRESENTED BY
OUR OWN HELEN WOOD OWNER OF NATIONALLY RANKED WILSON T-BONE
|
We proudly started the 2010 year with an Agility.
Helene covered everything a person wanted to know about agility from A to Z. She discussed the mechanics
of agility, how to work up the system and a primer on how to get started. She also shared the costs and commitments involved
in this active sport. Many of our members have seen Wilson “T-Bone” in action and what a sight
to see. Congratulations to the Wood family and we look forward to many more accomplishments in the near
future.

DR. ADRIENNE BRODE FROM THE CANINE HEALTH INSTITUTE
|
In February we were honored to have Dr. Adrienne Brode
from The Canine Health Institute share with us the advances in canine rehabilitation and stem cell research. The
Canine Health Institute specializes in pain management and also on identifying and adequately treating pain that our dogs
may suffer from. She explained the significance of stem cell therapy and how it both repairs and replaces
damaged tissue. Dr. Brode encouraged awareness of the benefits of stem cell medicine and how future studies
could possibly help our own dogs in a time need. For more information on The Canine Health Institute and
their stem cell research, feel free to visit: www.caninehealthinstitute.com/services-stem-cell.html

DOG PARKS &"DOG PARK ETIQUETTE"
The temperature in Houston began warming up, so for March’s
program we focused the discussion on the dog parks. There are over has 23 dog parks in Houston, Texas and Lisa Goebel, Director at Large of The Houston Dog Park
Association spoke to us about where they are and what to expect when we get there. Lisa’s main
mission as director is to educate the public about responsible dog ownership. She discussed the importance
of familiarizing yourself with the rules and regulations of any dog park you plan to visit. Lisa also shared
with us proper “Dog Park Etiquette”, which not only included how our dogs should behave in the park, but also
how we should respond toward threatening situations with aggressive dogs, dog fights, etc. Overall, a responsible
dog owner knows his or her dog and how to avoid potential problems within a dog park.
